Myanmar Achieves Historic Milestone with First Official Introduction of CCUS.
On 20th August, 2025, We are proud to announce a landmark achievement in Myanmar’s energy sector: the country’s first official introduction of Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS), presented on the national stage by the Ministry of Energy. This pivotal moment marks the beginning of a transformative journey toward low-carbon innovation in upstream oil and gas operations.
As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainable development, we are conducting a comprehensive study in the IOR-4 contract area, focused on Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) through CO₂ injection. This initiative also includes the evaluation of post-capture carbon strategies, laying the groundwork for integrating advanced CCUS technologies into Myanmar’s hydrocarbon infrastructure.
Drawing on proven CCUS-EOR models across the Asia Pacific region—including large-scale CO₂ flood projects in China and offshore pilot programs in Malaysia—we are reinforcing the technical and economic viability of CCUS within Myanmar’s unique geological and operational context.
Our proposed CO₂ injection pilot project aims to deliver tangible, scalable impact: reducing greenhouse gas emissions while enhancing oil recovery. With strong alignment between industry stakeholders and government policy, Myanmar is well-positioned to emerge as a regional leader in climate-conscious energy development.
This milestone reflects our vision for a future where energy security and environmental stewardship go hand in hand.
